The Parable of the Wedding Feast luke 14:7-11 --- Humility brings Exaltation

Many principles of life are opposite to common sense. Such as, giving to receive, and changing others begins with changing our attitudes and behavior toward them, etc. If we want to be exalted, we begin with humility first, giving respect and honor to others, serving others, and learning from others.

Lessons:

  • It is better for others to praise you than you to praise yourself.

  • Humility brings exaltation - with humility, we give respect and honor to others and we are open-minded to learn. Others will be willing to help and teach us.
    • Proverbs 11:2: "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom."

  • true honor comes from humility and serving others, not seeking self-importance.
    • Proverbs 22:4 says: "Humility and fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life."

    • Philippians 2:3-4: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but to the interests of others."
