When we are successful, we tend to think that our success will last, and we spend more time in celebrations, feeling good and proud, rather than being concerned about the potential risks or changes.
Amid the widespread support of the crowd, Jesus foretold His coming death quite a few times. But His message fell on deaf ears. People also cannot be counted on.
Lessons:
- The present success is no assurance of sustainable success for the future.
- Need to follow the Chinese saying "居安思危" to think about the potential danger when in secure time or "to think of danger in times of peace."
- SunZi Art of War C8v10 无恃其不来,恃吾有以待之;无恃其不攻,恃吾有所不可攻也。 Don’t count on them not coming but rather we are ready for them … (vaccination, cyber-security).
- Be not afraid to ask.
Jesus would have explained to them further that they may prepare better for His death. But their mindsets were not able to absorb such yet.
